We did start 3 in our team , 5 total from Sept iles with Denis and Catou.
It was tough, very tough . Many stories for years to come
At the finish line , we were happy and proud, all of us.
Katou was tough , very tough. Quite impressed.
Ricky was again the best teammate for all of us, and best service to bring back drunk people on Sunday night.
Denis...un peu fife with his blisters , but quite a beast going up the hills. For me he was quite a revelation as a tough dude chasing the coyote.
Serge as usual , the best singer and best dancer at the finish line.
Tent no. 10 with Kim and Jerry, great people, we will never forget you.
.... and for me delighted to be a part of this. Sometimes you just see things... and being happy. Life sometime is simple , and you can see stars shinning.
4 Desert organisation, doctors, volunteers are AMAZING. Honestly great organization, very professional and always taking care of the runners . Great people, within a great organization.
What we can we say...Goldorak will regroup, and we will back sometimes , somedays.
It is always seems impossible until it is done.
Thanks 4 desert for this great experience.
Dark and Stormy day
As planned , everybody completed this 80 km.
It is done.
Our feet now look like Hobbit feet, but as Serge said : pain is a privilege.
Blisters count is a little bit out of control.
For the last km , we were looking like private Ryan coming into the beach.
We can call it : the dark and stormy run.
After finish line , the time to get a dark and stormy or a beer, will be counted in seconds…
We ll be flying over the course tomorrow…or maybe more like Buzz lightyear said: this is not flying, this is just falling with style.
I know , it is all about the style !!
Who said , that it was easy?
We lost a member of our team today.
Ricky had to drop at mid stage today. Dunes climbing yesterday killed his legs.
Sandy surface today, and rocky hills brought him to his knees.
He gave everything, but the tank was empty.
I am proud of him. He did 150 km all in.
I am sure is really disappointed, but it was the right decision,
We are two in the team now.
Tomorrow is 80 km !
Our legs ,shoulders, feet, are in pain but…
Nothing rational about running 80 km,after 4 consecutive days of 40 km.
That is the idea. Tomorrow you don’t run with your legs and brain, you run with your heart and soul.
One of the greatest guy of the last century, Nelson Mandela said:
It always seems impossible, until it’s done.
Tomorrow it will be done.
Might not be pretty , but it will be done.
And this one from Mr. Mandela for Ricky:
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
In 2015 Ricky dropped on stage 3 at the third stop.
Before this stop, it is the toughest surface of the entire race. You can hardly walk, you losing a lot of energy.
The surface is a crusty volcano salt soft rock.
But This time …. he was bouncing, dancing, he was flying over this section.
Full revenge has taken place.
Everybody completed stage 3 in our team.
Very warm today, alot of dunes. We will need a good rest.
Blisters are popping, legs, shoulders are hurting, lots of fun.
Tomorrow stage 4 !!
Yesterday we had 70km/h draft blowing in the desert.
We had a good sandblast. Quite hard to run in altitude without oxygen with sand in your face.
Today ,our team felt like we went 10 round of boxing with Floyd Mayweather.
We started strong , but finished on our knees.
The run trail was tough, made for goats, more than for runners.
On the positive side two things:
My partners will recuperate tonight. On my side , I can say that for me, hills of beautiful Bermuda were the best training for this event.
Tomorrow will be ready to knock down Mayweather.
Arrived at the camp.
Chile is beautiful.
Breathing is hard, but we should get use to it soon.
We had our first dry food dinner. Not great.
Race start tomorrow. Can’t wait.
Team is ready. No country for three old men are ready to rock and roll!
With 20 days to go, training is almost completed.
It is a done deal. Our team '' no country for 3 old men '' from Gobi, China 2013 is back in.
Against all odds...since We did promess to buried our back pack for ever after Gobi in 2013.
With all the blisters and the pain , we said to our wives that it was the last time......but with time , we forget everything.
In fact almost everything .... we will never forget our friendship. Like some old guy said :
A true friend is someone that is there for you , when he'd rather be anyplace else.
This is our team.
Weather has been beautiful in Bermuda.
Sunny and between 29 C and 31 C all summer.
Perfect condition for training. On top of this , we have beautiful beaches ( almost like a desert !) , and beautiful hills.
Long runs are hard and it hurts....... Sounds like a great training.
A chance that we can get a good Dark and Stormy after a long run.
