Day 4 done.
16-May-2012 07:45:39 AM [(GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi]

Few good milestones today. Firstly after I had hit 12km it meant I had done more than half. Secondly by the time I had got to the finish after 40km I have now completed 154km, and have less than 100km to go. As a couple of us here are now saying “It is less than a Oxfam Trailwalker to go” and I have done a few of those. However I had never done 150km in the 4 days before those either !!!! Completed the 40km in 7hr 43 today. Definitely could have gone a little faster, but very aware of the 90km sage tomorrow. Not sure exact placing, but around 90th on the day. Couple more dropped out today. So important to get your hydration right. Saw two guys just get too dehydrated today and so are out.

Matt, I don’t think your homebrew will quite hit the spot out here, but I look forward to having one in NZ soon. Another neck rub from my kiwi mate DK this morning got me off on the right track, but really need a good meal tonight and a good sleep to set me up for tomorrow’s long day. 90km, so hoping to do in about 19-20 hours. The hard part will be from 11am till 5pm when it is the hottest, so providing I can keep food and electrolytes up, I can go a little faster when it cools down in the evening. Tomorrow is the make or break day, but apart from some very ugly blisters, the body is holding up well. Thanks for all the great emails and comments. I had a few LOL moments reading them just now.

Hopefully next time you hear from me, I am 6km from the finish. Today the scenery was a bit boring. Sand, sand and more sand, plus a couple of camels!. Tomorrow we make our way to the outskirts of Petra, so hopefully a few good sights.

Glen, well done on your journey/holiday/nightmare thus far. Too bad you just had a lot of sand to look at for Day 4. kind of like my walk to and from the office in Manila...concrete, then more concrete! When you get this you would of completed your big stage so I am sure you will feel pretty beat but glad you completed it. All the best for the final stages and enjoy it when you can. Cheers Michael

Good luck for the 90kms. Sounds horrible. Hopefully the scenery is more interesting than the sand / camels of today!
