A Pig of a Day
30-Jul-2015 04:20:06 AM [(GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi]

Ouch – that hurt – only 42km ish, but one enormous climb. Worth it for the holy shit moment when I crested the rise and saw the volcano crater with a blue lake within. You will have to wait for the photos. Over 10 and ½ hours – and we still have the long day tomorrow. I am typing this blog from within a local church – perhaps I ought to send a message to the big man. As I was heading back into camp I turned to see that I was being followed by a large black pig (this isn’t a joke) – reckon I should have got him into camp so that we could all have bacon butties. You may all have figured it out , but I am finding this race tough – more time on the feet and always another mountain in from of you – anyway – just one more long day and we are nearly there. Many thanks all for the cricket update – that certainly cheered me up. And of course a very happy 21st Wedding Anniversary to Shazz for Thursday – now that really is a great feat of endurance (from Sharon of course!), my current shaggy llama tails are too rude for the blog – they will be available on subscription basis. Love to all – I am now off to fix my feet – plenty of toenails are about to meet their end. Toodlepip d

Well done DG - Looking forward to seeing the slimmer, tanned you limping into the office - since your last cricket update seems so out of date - Eng 281 all out Auz 168 - 7 at the close yesterday so looking pretty good but, worst news possible is Anderson out with side strain def for 4th Test ..... we'd better hope the weather dries out and we magically find some good spinners

So far so good - nearly there! Terrain sound brutal; however, a few war wounds only make the experience more memorable. Good effort - I'm sure you can already taste that first cold one!

DG, Magnificent Beast of an effort so far. Sounds truly a beasting session. Let us know if the jungles of Ecuador are any comparison to others you may have strayed across in your other travails. Best of luck for the final push. On on!

Dear old Dave, Sorry for the silence this end, I'm a bit pre-occupied with Eve having to have a medical procedure Friday 31st. Well done old boy, gallant effort on your part. Mum phoned me up with your latest and I've read it myself. Wish I was with you (not really!) A bit of sponsorship follows. Love, proud Dad and Eve.

Well done! Obviously a gruelling experience, even our feet are feeling sore. Mum says that she would like to sign up for the latest llama blogs so that she may understand more of how her son's mind works - or not, as the case might be. we could think of better ways for you to have spent your wedding anniversary but we send your both our congratulations

My comments seem to get lost very time I submit - or maybe a bug on the RTP page?! Anyways, try again - well done Dg! Hope the walking and taping are fun! One long hike and then unlimited beer!

Well done David, you are doing amazingly. Good luck for the last day, then I hope you can relax with a well earned beer! I'm looking forward to hearing about those llamas! Sara

DG, well done mate. The race sounds really tough and painful from the sounds of your blogs and relatively low key humour. Just the long day left mate, just think of the ice cold drum of beer you can have after the race. I hope the feet are not in too bad shape. In case you didnt get Day 1 at the Ashes, Aus all out for 136, Eng 133/3. Good luck for the long day!
