Stage 2
28-Jul-2015 04:34:29 AM [(GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi]

I made it in to Camp 2 just before dark. It was a very long day, a very steep climb following checkpoint 1 and the altitude seems to have affected most of the competitors. Luckily I have been adopted by team South Africa and spent the whole day with Nicky and Allister. I think if I was on my own I would of certainly joined the volunteers today. The trails are absolutely amazing, steep climbs and scary descents, I have been feeling the altitude and have had to loosen the chest strap on my backpack as my chest pain was getting really bad. Gareth don’t worry I got the doc to check me out and I do not have a pulmonary embolism just musculoskeletal pain. I really appreciate everyone’s messages of support, tomorrow is a new day and another climb. Matt and Lucy I have been thinking of you all day, I hope everything went well with the arrival of baby Spargo. Lots of love xxxx

Great achievement, the pack is getting lighter & the mind is getting quieter. So, just go Pacito a Pacito & today your challenge is to pass the half way point of your journey. reads like you have joined a good group of runners all with the same struggle to keep going. We are with you all the way. M&D

Great work Andrea! Hope your chest is feeling better. Not the most comfortable injury to have when carrying a heavy pack. Very inspirational. We are missing your smiley face in the altitude room at JBC. Take care mate. Cheers Matt

Well done my dear, another stage down! Hang in there, you're doing so well. I'm sure you'll find as the week goes on and you get more used to your pack that it will become less painful, especially as it gets lighter. I'm so glad that you've found some nice people to run with, I'm sure it makes all the difference. The South Africans are a hardy bunch so I'm sure they're great company on a tough race - plus they may have brought some biltong, which is a bonus. They've certainly set a challenging course from looking at the elevation gains and from what I've read on other peoples blogs it seems everyone's struggling. So just remember you're taking the road less travelled, you're choosing to test yourself and you're achieving something tremendous, just keep moving forward. Onwards and upwards, we're with you every step of the way, your two favourite boys X.
