American Lia Farley was the 1st placed lady and Team Saigon Children's Charity were 1st placed team. Competitors raced to the finish line at El Questro Station to be greeted by friends, family, volunteers, staff and the children from Dawul Remote Community School, who also helped get the race off to a fantastic start last Sunday.   Beyond the 4 Deserts


  • Two hundred competitors from more than 30 countries will take part in RacingThePlanet: Australia 2010.
  • The location of RacingThePlanet: Australia will The Kimberley in Western Australia.
  • Summer temperatures in Western Australia can reach 40°C during the summer, and in the winter, frosts are common.
  • Kununurra, meaning 'big water' in the local Indigenous language, is the eastern gateway to the ancient landscape that is The Kimberley – one of the world’s last true wilderness areas.
  • The largest contingent hails from Australia with more than 60 competitors, followed by Hong Kong with almost 35.
  • There are 45 women signed up to compete or roughly about 22 percent.
  • The youngest competitor is Christian J. Prendiville, age 20, of Perth, Australia, and the oldest competitor is 69 year old Toshio Ohmori of Japan.
  • There is a group of five brothers competing, the Prendivilles, who are originally from Perth, Australia.
  • Two time RacingThePlanet champion (Vietnam, Namibia), Salvador Calvo Redondo of Spain will be competing – he is sponsored by Next Generation Event Management Company.
  • Stephanie Case of Canada, the champion of RacingThePlanet: Vietnam, is competing.
  • The former overall champion of the 4 Deserts, Francesco Galanzino, of Italy will be competing.
  • The first person in the world to complete the 4 Deserts Grand Slam is also competing, Paul Liebenberg, a South African medical doctor from the Northern Territory.
