Q2: How are the locations for RacingThePlanet 100 chosen?
A2:
In order to give competitors the opportunity to race in locations they will never forget, across landscapes that few outsiders get to explore without the help of guides. We choose locations based on their raw beauty, their historical significance, and their fascinating cultures.

Q3: Can I sign up for just one event? Which event do I have to complete first?
A3:
You may compete in just one or all of the RacingThePlanet 100 ultramarathons. They do not need to be completed in any particular order.

Q4: What is the format of RacingThePlanet 100 ultramarathons?
A4:
Each event is a 48-hour single-stage footrace. Competitors can compete as individuals or as part of a team. Each individual must carry a number of mandatory items in their backpack at all times for their own safety and pass through a series of checkpoints to successfully complete the race. The only assistance provided is water (plenty), and medical assistance out on the course.

Q5: Am I able to rest during the 48 hours of the RacingThePlanet 100 ultramarathon?
A5:
At certain checkpoints along the course hot water will be available for competitors to make hot drinks and food and we encourage you to rest at these checkpoints if you need to, however you are able to rest at any checkpoint on the course. You cannot rest on the side of the course.

Q6: I don’t think I can run 100 kilometers, can I still make the cutoff times?
A6:
The event is set up to allow for generous cutoff times. The leaders run the entire distance whilst many walk the whole course and are still able to meet the cutoff times.

Q7: How much training will be required?
A7:
It is important that you do train for the RacingThePlanet 100 Ultramarathons. You must be prepared to complete 100 kilometers in harsh and extreme temperature and climates. However, our competitors are busy professionals – we don’t expect them to train all the time. Many complete the event with minimal training, some want to win and thus train a lot. Each competitor has his or her own goal. We simply want everyone to finish.

Q8: Why do you limit the number of competitors in each event to a relatively small number?
A8:
RacingThePlanet 100 is a unique experience. The locations in which the events are staged are pristine and remote, and part of the enjoyment is to experience them in solitude. We also wish to tread lightly in these pristine landscapes and so limit the events impact by restricting the number of participants.

Q9: What else is special about RacingThePlanet 100?
A9:
Each event highlights an indigenous culture in the region with the hope of preserving the culture for generations to come. You'll pass through Uyghur settlements in the Taklamakan, numerous ethnic minorities in Tibet, and Aboriginal communities in The Kimberley.

Q10: Can I run for a charity?
A10:
Absolutely – we encourage it. Many of our competitors have raised significant amounts of money for charities all over the world.
